Job Fair held at Monticello High School
very well attended!
On the afternoon of March 21 st at the Monticello
High School 82 employers set up booths and about 1500 members
of the area workforce showed up to see what was available.
Many of the job seekers already had work, but were either
looking to shorten their commute or were looking to improve
their careers.
Some
of the job seekers included employees of Northwest Airlines,
who were uncertain about their future with the airlines,
and preferred to find a job before they might be laid off.
The employers included medical device companies, machine
shop manufacturers, and engineering companies. The variety
of job skills and industries was very interesting and the
number of companies that needed to hire employees because
they are expanding was significant.
This event was put on with the support and encouragement
of several local organizations and media companies. The
Central MN Jobs & Training Services from the Monticello
Workforce Center were the main sponsors of the event and
both the Buffalo and the Monticello Chambers of Commerce
worked to get the event planned and executed. The Wright
County Economic Development Partnership also was involved
with the event and as a fiscal agent for the event. Area
newspapers that helped to promote this event included the
Wright County Journal Press, the Monticello Times, the Elk
River Star News, and Big Lake . Also, Joe Carlson of KRWC
also helped to promote the event. Special thanks go out
to those companies in Monticello that allowed the Job Fair
advertising to be placed on their property prior to the
event.
The Partnership exists to enhance the business climate of
Wright County and help create more jobs in Wright County
. The strategies the Partnership uses to achieve its mission
