Plans for Wright County seminar recap
We had a lot of
information imparted to us at April's Monthly Membership
Event.
We'd like to thank
River City Extreme for providing a great venue and wonderful
food.
Our event was jointly
sponsored by SRF Consulting Group, Inc. and WSB &
Associates, Inc.
Our sponsors each
led the way with a short introduction of their respective
companies
Dave Montebello
from SRF Consulting Group Inc. was up first.
Dave talked about
the state of decline our state's transportation systems
are in and the urgent need for everyone to become involved
in the legislative process.
SRF had 45 years
of expertise in designing transportation systems and urban
spaces for the public and private sector. Their website
is www.srfconsulting.com
.
Next up was Doug
Weiszhaar from WSB & Associates Inc.
Doug emphasized
the fact that there are important pieces of legislation
now pending that can have a huge impact transportation
maintenance and expansion in the future. He went into
some detail about specific pieces of pending legislation
and the impact they may have on future transportation.
WSB
& Associates Inc. is a Minnesota owned consulting
firm providing services in the civil engineering, planning,
environmental, and construction fields. Their website
is www.wsbend.com
.
Our
main presenters were Jim Povich from MN/DOT district 3
and Wayne Fingalson, Wright County Engineer.
Jim
talked about current and planned state and federal highway
projects in and around Wright County . He supplied maps
of the projects and cost estimates.
Finally
it was Wright County engineer Wayne Fingalson's turn.
Wayne gave us an extensive presentation on current and
planned projects in Wright County road projects. He placed
a particular emphasis on the state of disrepair of some
our Wright County bridges.
It
was a very informative lunch. I'm always amazed at the
time, energy and resources needed to build and maintain
our transportation infrastructure. Our transportation
systems are critical to our overall success as a society.
