Precision Manufacturer expanded in St. Michael.

On November 16, 2007 Randy Pelletier, owner of a manufacturing company called Pellco, gave a tour to members of the Wright County Economic Development Partnership Board of Directors. Those present were Lee Carver of Sil-Pro Manufacturing, Scott Johnson of Xcel Energy, Wayne Elam of Allied Properties, Noel LaBine with the Partnership, Mike Melton of Shingobee Builders, Tom Dobson of Annandale State Bank, Marc Weigle of the City of St. Michael, and Tim Zipoy from the Workforce Center in Monticello .

Located along Highway # 241 in St. Michael, the Pellco building was completed in 2007 with a 22 foot ceiling and extra space for expansion. Besides the 28,000 square feet currently occupied, there is an additional 12,000 square feet available for lease. This building was designed with excellent lighting that gives 100 candle foot of light three feet off the floor. Also, the roof holds the largest collection of solar collectors in Minnesota , which provides the Pellco building with about 10 % of its electrical needs. The owner expects a 7 year return on this investment.

Pellco was originally started about 22 years ago as Pelletier Machine Inc. in about 200 S.F. of a used machinery dealer's warehouse. In 1988 they moved into a new 5000 S.F. building in St. Michael about 1 mile east of the current building. The building was expanded by 8000 S.F. in 1996. Originally, Randy started with one machine and made a limited number of parts. He continued to grow the business and acquire more machines and contracts. At this time he has 20 employees (on 2 shifts) that work in a very clean environment and operate over $2 million in CNC machines that have multiple axis and automatic feeders that allow them to produce very sophisticated and extremely close tolerance finished parts.

Pellco manufactures precision machined parts out of metal and plastic for various aerospace, medical device, and military uses. Some of their main customers include Banner Engineering out of Plymouth, Tescom Corp. out of Elk River , and Park Hannifin, a billion dollar global company. Some of the parts made at Pellco are delivered under a Kan Ban system or JIT (Just In Time). The parts made include sensory devices, electrical sensors, couplers, and fittings.

The members of the Partnership are delighted with the decision by Randy Pelletier to build this beautiful manufacturing building in Wright County . Thanks to Pellco for for choosing Wright County as your place to grow and expand!
