Wright
County Partnership holds Annual Meeting
at Wild Marsh, Buffalo MN.
The Wright County Economic Development Partnership held
its Annual Meeting at the Wild Marsh Golf Club on January
19 th . This event featured a buffet breakfast, presentation
of business & citizens awards, and a guest speaker.
There were 73 people in attendance at this morning meeting.
Several people received awards at this event.
The Outstanding Citizen of the Year Award went to Trish
Taylor from Annandale. The Outstanding Start-up
Entrepreneur of the Year Award went to Pete Nelson of Nelson
Building and Development in Buffalo. The Outstanding
Member of the Year Award went to Wayne Elam for his outstanding
contributions in helping the Partnesrhip grow through new
members. Wayne Elam also was recognized for his past
year as Chair of the Partnership. Other members recognized
were outgoing board members Ollie Koropchak, John Siffert
and Sarah Smith.
Three new Board members were elected at this
annual meeting. The new members included Mark Casey
with the City of Annandale, Jaime Simonsen with North Hennepin
Community College, Lee Carver with Sil-Pro in Delano.
New officers of the Partnership are Tim Zipoy, Chair, Mike
Melton, Vice-Chair, and Tom Dobson, Secretary/Treasuer.
The event also included a high energy presentation
by Jack Uldrich of the Nano Veritas Group. Jack gave
a great presentation on Nanotechnology and our rapidly changing
future. He gave several historical examples of how
decisions about our future often mean that we will take
a dramatically different way to do things. He predicted
future technology will mean more use of robots, decreased
cost for medical care, and other interesting possiblilites
were discussed.
The event also included
a high-energy presentation by Jack Uldrich of the Nano Veritas
Group. Jack gave a great presentation on Nanotechnology

The Partnership exists to enhance the business climate
of Wright County and to help create more jobs in Wright
County . The strategies the Partnership uses to achieve
its mission include being an information resource and finding
technical assistance; aiding business development through
Business Retention & Expansion visits, providing financing
resources, and providing business information and training
through seminars and workshops. Also, the Partnership markets
Wright County to business site locators, and maintains an
excellent website, which includes a listing of commercial
and industrial property available in Wright County (see
www.wrightpartnership.org ). The Partnership
also assists with Workforce Development and has gathered
economic statistical information, which is available on
its website.
